It’s easy to forget that This Way North is a two-piece band. With Cat Leahy on drums and Leisha Jungalwalla wailing on her electric guitar, the duo create a uniquely full, expansive sound that leaves the audience stunned.
Currently of no fixed address, Cat and Leisha are enjoying making a home for themselves on the road and the stage. Whether in a local dive bar or at a national festival, This Way North bring more passion and energy than a 10-piece band, drumming up a contagious euphoria.
Hailing from regional Victoria, they first met in northern Canada at the renowned British Columbian ArtsWells Festival. Winning the Age Music Victoria award for Best Regional act at the end of 2018 off the back of their second EP release, This Way North has been dubbed the one's to watch in 2019. They have just released their brand new single 'Night Terrors' with a premiere on Triple J and to rave reviews from radio and industry personnel alike. The song pounds out of the first chorus, tightly wound and edgy as it drives relentlessly forward. Jungawalla’s vocal is exposed and vulnerable, sitting effortlessly above Leahy’s indomitable drumming, in an infectious arrangement that beckons you in at every step.
